Learning in progress....
24 June 2007
People always asked me, "What religion are you?" and I answered proudly, Buddhist! But do I really know what Buddhism is all about? The answer is, NO. Then how can I claimed that I am a Buddhist? Was it because of my parents or what? Definitely my parents since I was dependent on them. I was taught the basic teachings on Buddhism but was not sent to a buddhist sunday school to further enhance my knowledge on Buddhism. I know it is an embarassment for not knowing my religion deeply. Well, it is never too late to learn as age is not a barrier. Hence I am actually reading "Following the Buddha's Footsteps" on the internet just to get the gist of it. Besides that I would want to get first hand experience by learning more from the Sangha(s) and their lives.
Not knowing is one thing, but believing in God is the principle in life. I do believe in Buddha and that's why I am here today! But after reading and understanding it, it makes more sense to me now! For examples why am I believing in Buddha, what is his teachings all about, what do I have to do in order to lead a harmonious and peaceful life and etc etc.
Lastly, everyone does have their own personal beliefs but it is good to learn about other religions for personal wisdom.
